Operators of the JustPlay mobile application (JustPlay GMBH and Gimica GMBH) have agreed to a pay $4.5 million to settle allegations that the gaming app company violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by collecting, storing, and using users' biometric identifiers—specifically facial scans used for identity verification—without obtaining the required prior written consent. Illinois users whose information was collected by JustPlay may be eligible to claim a cash payment of $15, even without documentation.
