The lawsuit alleges that National Tenant Network, Inc. and LCIJ, Inc. sent postcards that displayed eviction filing information in plain view, where mail carriers and anyone else handling the mail could read it. The suit claims that putting that information on a postcard broke the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The defendants agreed to a settlement fund of no less than $1.625 million without admitting they did anything wrong.
The money will be divided equally among everyone who files a valid claim, after legal fees, costs, service awards, and administration expenses come out. Individual payout amounts have not been announced yet, because they depend on how many people file. Claims, opt outs, and objections are all due September 22, 2026, and the court will hold a final approval hearing on December 8, 2026.
